Reconception of a barbecue
Problem
It's important to privilege a product design based on the use rather than the methods of design or technical solutions. This is what this project aimed at. The goal is to improve the use and therefore the value of an existing product using a diverse and varied tools. The product studied here was a charcoal barbecue.
The project, step by step

Preliminary analysis of the subject, the target, the existing and user’s first expectations (Focus Group).

Requirements definition and functional analysis (AFE).

Analysis of product uses with using scenarios and user testing.

Internal functional analysis of the existing (AFI).

Troubleshooting (affinities diagram method) and failures (FMEA).

Search for pre-concepts to improve the use and value of the product.

Definition of the final concept, assessment of its value (increased design efficiency of over 20% compared to existing product) and realistic renderings of the final product.
